Review - Paid to Take Control by Romilly King
My rating: 
Brio is Ash's partner in the company that makes the artificial intelligence software that is the key to Delphic Agency's success. But where Ash is a Dom, Brio is submissive, and almost dangerously so. When his needs aren't met, he starts engaging in risky behavior. What Brio needs is a really good Dom, but so far Ash and the Delphic Agency haven't had much luck finding one that can handle the genius's erratic needs.

Sander, the Duke of Roses of the small mythical Pyrenean country of South Abarra is used to the quiet life. He's been effectively banished to a vineyard in the countryside after a horrible “incident” at court when he was 17 and his superpowers were as yet uncontrolled. He's even looking forward to taking his boat out for a sailing trip to celebrate his birthday. First, he has to deal with the North Abarra Duke of Arles, Tarik, a man with a volatile reputation.

Note: I received a complementary copy of this book in exchange for a review. Noah is overwhelmed after the sudden death of his father. The man was the owner of a successful kink club that catered to the age play set, and he left it to Noah, who has no head for business or how to manage people. In desperation he reaches out to Sawyer, his late father's best friend, and a “daddy” Noah has had a crush on for years.

Review - Rocks & Railways by Maz Maddox
My rating:
Mack has always been very comfortable playing the solid backup to Sheriff Calhoun, but when Cal is wounded chasing after some bandits, it's time for Mack to step in and take responsibility while the centaur recuperates. Of course, that's when everything goes sideways in town. The main thing causing a stir is the discovery of a living statue buried in the plateau the new railroad is trying to cut a tunnel through.
Review - Once Upon a Time by Alessandra Hazard
My rating:
Crown Prince Jamil is still feeling the loss of his bond-mate months after the prince consort was killed when his aircraft was supposedly shot down by “rebels” in the high mountains. Unable to sleep one night, he finds himself in the royal stables, were he encounters a man trying to break one of the wild flying horses on his own. The man, Rohan, is breaking all safety protocols, but Jamil is unable to do anything but stare at him.

A few hundred years from now, an alien race makes contact with earth. They're friendly at first, and help humanity achieve it's dream of planetary space travel. But soon earth is drawn into a generations-long war between their new “friends” and another race. The two battling species eventually move on, leaving an earth that is almost uninhabitable and a decimated population of humans occupying colonies and space stations strewn out among the outer planets.

Everett is supposedly the only one of the four partners in Four Bears Construction who is straight. After all, he was married and has a daughter he shares custody with his ex-wife. Only ‘Ev’ has a secret: he's gay. He tried to deny it for years, and he still hasn't come out to his friends or his ex-wife, but now he's finally getting out there dating, and getting serious with Watson, who just happens to be his daughter's music teacher.

For over a thousand years, the four kingdoms have lived in peace, under the guidance of a central council of elders. Each kingdom is ruled by someone marked with the symbol of their respective kingdoms. The North, a land of snow covered mountains, is ruled by Crow, while the king of the West wetlands is Tancho. Both are 25 years old, and destined to meet, along with the rulers of the other two kingdoms, for the first time at a festival celebrating a once-in-one-thousand-years eclipse.

Having finally woken up from a semi-comatose state 14 months after Jonty's psychopathic wannabe boyfriend pushed him off a ladder, Tay is anxious to get his life back, on his own terms. He decides to move to London, away from the memories of Northumberland which include the realization that Jonty was more to him than just a best mate. But Tay doesn't yet have enough mobility to be completely independent, so his parents insist he get a live-in helper.

Note: The author kindly offered an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review. A month has passed since the events recounted in Sword Dance. Damiskos has returned to Pheme while Varazda has come back to Boukos, but now Damiskos is coming for a visit and Varazda wonders what the ex-soldier will make of the odd little family he has created over the years living in Saffron Alley.
