Review - Judgement Dave by SI Clarke
My rating:
Lem is trying to settle into life aboard the star ship Teapot with her new alien friends, but she feels uncertain about her place. Unlike her crew mates, Lem doesn't think she brings any skills to support the running of the ship. Then the ship answers a call to help evacuate a colony that will otherwise be wiped out by a large asteroid impact, and Lem's skills as a project manager are tested to their limit.

My rating:
Wesley is a talented software developer, working on video games. But his work is mostly on short term contracts that never turn into full time jobs, so he lives from contract to contract with hardly anything saved up and no idea how he's going to pay the mortgage on the house he inherited from his parents. In a way, getting kidnapped by big blue aliens may be the best thing to happen to the young man who has always dreamed of exploring the stars.
Review - The Aliens' Mate by Delaney Rain
My rating:
Lucian, “Luc”, is kidnapped by aliens along with three earth women. They are held captive on a space ship along with two other aliens, who seem to be attracted to Luc, even though he can't understand anything they say. When an opportunity to escape presents itself, the aliens prove quite useful in freeing Luc and the other humans, and getting them off the ship. They all survive a crash landing on a nearby planet, and Luc gets attracted to them more and more.
Review - Entity by Toshi Drake
My rating:
Michael Collins is the ship Padua's “mechanique”, a member of a humanoid species that bonds with the octopus-like species that pilots the ships for interstellar flight. His bond allows him to communicate with the “ship's heart”, forming a bridge between the crew and the cephalopod pilot. When the Padua encounters an abandoned ship's heart in space, the captain orders Michael to leave the ship to guard the heart, even though mechaniques are not supposed to leave the heart they're bonded to.

Review - After the Storm by H Birchwood, Key Dyson & Raymond Roach
My rating:
When the effects of climate change start getting severe, governments collapse and chaos ensues. To escape the dangers of the cities, a group of people take to the waters of Lake Michigan, where they're joined by more refugees and ultimately form a self-contained community called the “Michigan Fleet”. Rich Merrill is a child of the fleet, born to a “normal” father and a mother descended from genetically modified super-soldiers. But Rich isn't a soldier, he's a tech who can interface with the artificial intelligence of the ships in the fleet to help them out.

Review - Kríe Captivity by Kora Knight
My rating:
Alec is leading a scientific team to explore a newly discovered planet, but things go wrong before they can even land when their ship is attached by flying creatures who force them to crash. The team's luck seems to change when they encounter one of the humanoid natives, Gesh, who seems friendly enough. That is, until Gesh feeds them some delicious fruit that has some strong aphrodisiac effects. Before they know it, the team finds themselves hostages of Gesh and his friends, who assure the earth men that the fruit's effects won't end until the men have sex Gesh or his friends.
Review - Left Hand of Dog by SI Clarke
My rating:
In an effort to reinvent herself, Lem moves to Canada with her dog Spock. The “new” Lem has adventures, only “kidnapped by aliens” wasn't exactly what she had in mind, let alone kidnapped by bounty-hunting bunnies. That's just the start of a mind-bending journey through space with Spock and Lem's new found friends. “Left Hand of Dog” is not so much space opera as space farce. While it's a bit silly, the story isn't so over the top as to not be somewhat believable.
Review - Returning Heroes by Harry F. Rey
My rating:
Ales is back from his accidental trip to another galaxy, and it seems just in time, too. Things are afoot as the galactic powers move to quell unrest on several fronts, especially the attempt of Lord Viscamon to take over the Kyleri Empire. Osvai receives unexpected support to help him regain the throne he lost, while Ales is anxious to find Turo to make him free Ales from the cage he is trapped in.

Review - Captured by Sam Burns and W.M. Fawkes
My rating:
Lucas is stuck in a minimum wage job as a barista, because what use is a history degree. His boyfriend left him and is about to be married. And, he took their cat. Could his life get any worse? Somehow, “kidnapped by aliens” never even figured as a possible answer to that question. Only, these aliens are big, blue and very buff. And, one of them seems to have taken a liking to Lucas.
Review - Cherish by Lexi Ander
My rating:
Kindly note that some of the more interesting aspects of this story are hard to discuss without revealing a few details of the plot. The GyrFalconi of Aires 7 have lived in relative isolation for hundreds of years; the technology that bought them across two galaxies to their new planet largely forgotten. That leaves them totally unprepared to fight off the Terrens who invade their planet to mine the rich deposits of an high energy crystal, enslaving large numbers of the GyrFalconi to work the mines.
