Review - Saffron Alley by A.J. Demas
My rating:
Note: The author kindly offered an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review. A month has passed since the events recounted in Sword Dance. Review - Vampire's Indulgence by Drake LaMarque
My rating:
Note: This series is very much designed to be read in order. If you haven’t read the first book, then this review may contain spoilers. Cedric is back aboard the Devil’s Whore sailing back to the Caribbean with his two lovers, Captain Lucifer and the vampire Dante, along with his former tutor Oliver, who Cedric has long had a crush on, which both men are planning on exploring further. Although seemingly safe for now, everyone knows the cult that tried to sacrifice Cedric is not going to give up trying to get him back and use him to fulfill their plans to bring an ancient evil one into this world.
Review - Suspects and Scales by Maz Maddox
My rating:
Note: This third book of the series is a direct sequel to the second, so if you haven’t read the previous book, be prepared for spoilers. As you’ll know from the cliff-hang-ey ending of Claw Marks and Card Games, Deputy Cody has just found his friend Wade murdered. Who would kill the gentle Iara (merman)? That’s what Cody is determined to find out, but things get complicated when Wade’s mother shows up, with her devoted assassin in tow.
Review - A Fine Mess by Angel Martinez
My rating:
One of Shax’s enemies may be dead, but there are still a few others out for the demon’s head. However, he, along with the rest of the crew, are tired of running and decide to take on their enemies. It’s a risky endeavor, especially with the latest members of the “crew” being a group of young children rescued from one of the people now carrying a grudge against Shax and his friends.

Review - Blue Storm by Adara Wolf
My rating:
In a world where almost everyone can wield magic, being born without the ability means almost certain death. Without magic, you can’t know your true name, and without that a person soon loses touch with life. The only way to survive is if someone else uses their magic to bind you to this world, and them, by giving you a name. That makes you their slave, subject to every whim and sexual desire, and they can take away your name at any time, leaving you to waste away and possibly die unless someone else wants you for their plaything.
Review - Heart of Darkness by Angello Adrien
My rating:
In a world where faeries, vampires, shifters and other supernatural creates have revealed themselves to be real, Valentino is the human “consort” to the guardian of Philadelphia, a high ranking supernatural charged with keeping the peace with humans. Valentino enjoyed his relationship with his guardian, but she is called back to the land of the fae to assume the crown as queen. Her replacement is a vampire, and Valentino takes an instant dislike to the man.
Review - Claw Marks and Card Games by Maz Maddox
My rating:
Note: This second book of the series is a direct sequel to the first, so if you haven’t read the previous book, be prepared for spoilers. The cards are being good to Cooper tonight, and hopefully he’ll make enough money off the game to pay down his huge gambling debt. Unfortunately, although the game goes his way, one of his opponents isn’t too happy about losing and pulls a gun. It’s a tense few moments until a tall stranger dressed in black intervenes on Cooper’s behalf.
Review - Unseen Beauty by Meraki P. Lyhne
My rating:
Note: This review contains some spoilers about the events of the previous book in the series. Continue reading at your own risk. In the wake of the executions that came at the end of the last book, Law of Beauty, things start to settle down for the new cubi king Daniel. But there’s still a lot to do, like solidify the cubi’s relationship with the two nations they share with the humans.

Review - Rainfall by J.C. Owens
My rating:
In a radical break with tradition, the former concubine, and trained assassin, Hredeen joins Raine as a second chosen of the Emperor Taldan. The move may be almost without precedent, but these are unusual times. The War Guild, originally set up to protect the empire, has turned against Taldan and now seeks to remove him. As more information comes to light about the guild’s plans and the real power they seek, the bigger the threat becomes to the newly formed triad.

Review - The Pet and His Duke by Beryll Brackhaus and Osiris BrackHaus
My rating:
Robert was born and raised to be a “pet”, a pleasure slave trained to satisfy his master’s every sexual demand. It’s an unsettled life with no permanence. Masters can grow bored and trade him in, or gift him to someone else to curry favor, or he can be stolen by another jealous owner. All that and more has happened to Robert in his time, and now he’s back in a trader’s “inventory” to be sold on again, yet he’s all too aware that at his age he is well past his amuse-by date.
