Review - First Mate's Pet by Drake LaMarque
My rating:
Warning: If you haven’t read the first book of this series, there may be some spoilers in this review of the second. Gideon seems quite happy with his four lovers, each of whom excites him in different ways. He’s learning to submit to Ezra while discovering the joys of leather, while also finding out that Zeb is still a very bossy cat even in human form. The main cloud on the horizon is the navy’s search for the Grey Kelpie, and Gideon, whom they believe was kidnapped by Captain Tate and his crew.
Review - Law of Beauty by Meraki P. Lyhne
My rating:
As Daniel ponders the lessons to be learned from Elakdon’s rising a thousand years ago, as recounted in the last book, History of Beauty, he must face what to do about relations with the modern-day humans that attacked what are now his people. As always, his lovers Seldon and Caledon are there to help him, along with the old king Elakdon. Seven books into this series, the story line is still engaging, with fresh ideas and even a few new characters we might be seeing more of in the next books.

Review - Cabin Boy by Drake LaMarque
My rating:
As the son of the governor of Jamaica, Gideon leads a rather privileged life. However, trouble looms as Gideon’s father insists he choose a girl to marry within the week, but the young man knows he isn’t attracted to women. He decides the best course of action is to run away, so he sneaks out the house early one morning and manages to find a ship to take him on. The captain is a tall muscular imposing figure who displays a curious interest in Gideon, who is also attracted to the first mate as well.
The Hunt for Red Fluffy by Angel Martinez
My rating:
When a stray hellcat - a creature only a demon can posses - appears on the station where the Brimstone has stopped, it’s obvious to just about everyone except Shax that it’s a trap, but he takes possession of the beast anyway. Thus begins a quite literal cat and mouse game as the demon prince and his crew try to outrun and outmaneuver the criminal gang out to capture them.

Review - History of Beauty by Meraki P. Lyhne
My rating:
More than a thousand years before Daniel was born, another royal emerged in the Norse regions of Europe. Like Daniel, Elakdon was almost immediately faced with dealing with new problems coming to the ancient Cubi peoples. Chief among these is a new religion sweeping north: Christianity. It’s a faith whose beliefs demonize and directly threaten the Cubi, who have traditionally lived openly alongside humans. “History of Beauty” is a story within the larger story of the Cubi series.

Review - An Outlaw's Captive by Xander Tracy
My rating:
Army lieutenant Randall is really only in service to please his general father. He may not have the urge to fight, but he has a good head for organization and logistics, so he’s quite happy working behind the front lines of the King’s road project, making sure the army is supplied. Nobody seems to pay him much attention, especially his father, but Randall is used to that. Alan, the “Outlaw Wolf”, has had his brother captured by the army, and he thinks Randall is the perfect bargaining chip to get him back.
