Review - Slave for Two by Morticia Knight
My rating:
Admittedly, in rough outline it sounds like the plot of a porn flick: A race of super-hunky aliens with a strong penchant for BDSM invade earth, quickly subdue the population, and round up all the twinks to serve as sex slaves for their kinky enjoyment. What saves it from being eye-rolling smut is strong character development. A good portion of this book, the first in a series that already stretches to four volumes, is spent getting to know the main human character Chris before he is captured by the Alasharians.

Review - Alpha Trine by Lexi Ander
My rating:
A Terran space ship is found abandoned near the Mar’Sani home world. The only survivor on board is a blind infant taken to be human. Grieving over the loss of their own son, the Mar’Sani royal family adopts the boy, Zeus, and raises him as one of their own. Although loved by his fiercely loyal family, Zeus is never quite accepted by the rest of reptilian Mar’Sani society. After one particularly bad incident, Zeus decides to take a posting at a space station.

Review - Siren's Call by J.C. Owens
My rating:
As the youngest son of a powerful and ruthless lord, Dradin is seen by his own family as more or less surplus to requirements. His fair looks and slight build make him the target of bullying, even by his brother Vax. Yet, despite it all, Dradin has not developed the cruel streak that his family is known for. He treats his young servant fairly and has a reputation for fair dealing when looking after his father’s estates.
Review - Tumbling Hair & Bread Crumbs by Charlie Richards
My rating:
What happens long after the happily-ever-after? For example, what became of Hansel and Gretel after they killed the witch? That, in part, is the question that inspires this funny and sexy mash-up of two fairy tales. Together with picking up the story of the two children later in life, we have the tale of Rapunzel mixed in. Of course, what would a fairy tale be without a handsome prince? These are familiar childhood stories, yet with very adult, and queer, twists, for it’s Hansel that catches the eye of Prince Jory, while Gretel is enamored of the long-haired Rapunzel.

Review - Smoking Mirror by Pelaam
My rating:
Captain Draco commands an airship in Her Majesty Queen Victoria’s flying service. At a ball thrown by the Aztec emperor to celebrate Draco’s victory over pirates that had plagued trade between the two nations, Draco learns of a new assignment: he is to captain the first ship to travel in space, a joint venture between the British and Aztec empires. To “assist” Draco on his mission, the Aztec emperor binds Draco the Yolotli, a beautiful young man Draco assumes is a palace pleasure slave.
Review - Jackalopes & Woofen-Poofs by Angel Martinez
My rating:
Time once again to check in on the offers of the 77th precinct in this fifth installent of the Offbeat Crimes. The focus this time around remains on Officer Alex Wolf and his new boyfriend, Animal Control Officer Jason Chen. The squad is still dealing with the fallout from their last encounter with the strange feral dust bunny creatures and the increasing suspicion that someone is targeting the officers with black magic.
Review - The Rules by Jamie Fessenden
My rating:
College student Hans answers an ad for a part-time housekeeper for a married gay couple. He’s surprised that the seemingly well-to-do Thomas is interested in hiring the inexperienced Hans when they can apparently afford a professional cleaning service. That is, until he meets Thomas’ Russian-born and extremely eccentric husband Boris. The most obvious of Boris’ eccentricities is his disdain for clothing. But the money is good and naked Boris isn’t hard on the eyes.

Review - Prince's Gambit by C. S. Pacat
My rating:
Kindly note: This is the second volume in a tightly linked series. If you haven’t read the first book, you may find a few spoilers in this review of the second. Damen and Laurent lead a rather rag-tag group of soldiers towards the border, where they know Laurent’s uncle the Regent has something in store to get rid of the troublesome prince. As their fate draws nearer, the two men gain a new respect for each other, and their feelings for each seem to be harder and harder to contain.

Review - The Bisti Business by Don Travis
My rating:
Private investigator BJ Vinson from “The Zozobra Incident” is back with another case. This time, BJ is hired by a rich, and rather homophobic, California wine maker who wants him to find his son, and his boyfriend. The two lost contact while on a vacation in New Mexico. Did something happen to them, or is the son just avoiding his disapproving father? This second outing for BJ Vinson lives up to the first.

Review - The Layover by Roe Horvat
My rating:
Slovakian Ondro is on his way back to the home he left several years ago to escape bad memories and homophobia. There’s just one hitch in his plan: a delayed flight means he missed his connection in Basel, and has to stay the night. It may not be a total loss, though, since another passenger in the same predicament, Jamie, catches Ondro’s eye. “The Layover” puts a refreshing spin on what could be a rather clich&eqcute; story of two ships that pass in the night.
