Review - Red Claws, Blue Ink by Beryll Brackhaus and Osiris BrackHaus
My rating:
Please note: The authors kindly supplied an advance review copy of this book for review. The book is due to be released on May 27, 2021 and may be purchased from Amazon using the link below. Newly minted Circle of Thales agent Rene is ready for his first assignment. Even as training missions go, this one seems very tame. He just has to get copies of reports about an old werewolf attack from a small village on the planet Shiraz, then pick up some books the Circle purchased at auction from an island estate on Gui Lin.
Review - Second Chance by Barbara Elsborg
My rating:
Ryder is on a “team building” cycling trip with his company, but he's not seeing much of the team since he can't keep up with them. Of course, considering his medical history it's amazing he can even ride a bike. When he's left behind even by the boss who was supposed to keep an eye on him, Ryder plans to give up trying and catch a ride with the support van to the next stop.

Review - Screwed by K.M. Neuhold
My rating:
Unlike his brother, and the other partners in Four Bears Construction, Ollie has always been a romantic who wanted the kind of relationship that lasts forever, just like in the romantic comedies he likes to watch. He's rushed into marrying guys he thought were “the one” three times, and each time has been divorced within months. Now Ollie is beginning to doubt he'll ever find true love. Daniel has never believed in true love.

Review - The Bloodied Broom by Beryll Brackhaus and Osiris BrackHaus
My rating:
Warning: If you haven't read previous books in this series, this review of the fourth will contain some spoilers. Colin and Yaden are settling into life with their found family; father figure Darius, younger brother Ivan and newly adopted Myriam, who is turning into a precocious teenager. Ivan and Yaden still go on potentially dangerous missions as Lotus Knights, leaving Colin behind to worry about whether or not they'll come back this time.

Review - Earth Husbands are Odd by Lyn Gala
My rating:
Max and his alien husband ‘Rick’ have settled into a domestic life aboard Rick's space ship. Max does most of the work raising the three children he bore for Rick. Rick's species usually doesn't get involved much with child rearing, but Max wants to be involved, and all three offspring seem to be the better for it. They've been spending their time in the sparsely populated region of space not far from Earth, but as the story opens their supplies are running low, so it's time to return to the more populated areas to try and sell something that will give them enough credit to restock their ship.

Review - By Imperial Decree by Angel Martinez
My rating:
Marsh is effectively the master mechanic for Bremen Station. He's the guy they call when just about anything breaks down. It keeps things interesting, but sadly that's the only part of his life that has any activity. Although he gets along well with just about everyone, for the most part, his only social interaction outside of work is an on-line book club where he shares opinions with a few anonymous regulars.

Review - Silhouette: Captured and Conquered by Hadrian Temple
My rating:
Dr. Inevitable is an arch-villain. He doesn't have any super powers but he does have a very keen intellect, with a particular ability to understand the psychology of people who take his interest. Right now, a vigilante called Silhouette definitely has his interest, so Dr. Inevitable begins laying plans to capture the masked crime fighter. But the doctor doesn't just want to beat Silhouette, he wants to own him and make him a sexual plaything.

Review - Consorts of the Red King by Eden Winters
My rating:
In a far distant future, Van and Tayn are two ex soldiers working for their former commander, who sends the pair on sometimes-questionable missions. They have their own ship, which they're able to operate with their minds while their bodies are maintained in life support pods, using minimal resources during long journeys across space. Akiak is a bit of a backwater planet, but it holds a potentially powerful energy source.

Review - Pieces of Us by N.R. Walker
My rating:
Kindly note: This book starts directly after the ending of the second, and picks up with the same characters right where they left off. If you haven't read the first two installments of this series, be prepared for spoilers. Justin continues to recover from the horrific traffic accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury as well as a broken arm and leg. There are good days, when more of Justin's personality emerges from the mist surrounding his cognitive capabilities, but there are also bad days, when the stress of an unwelcome visitor sends him back into an unresponsive fog.

Review - Pretty Boy by K.M. Neuhold
My rating:
Sterling was born with a large port wine stain covering nearly half his face. That alone made it difficult growing up in a small Texas town, where he's the easy target for every bully around. It doesn't help that his father abandoned their family before he was born and his mother is an alcoholic. Sterling gets by tending bar in the only bar in town, which is where he meets Barret.
