Review - Kidnapped by the Gentleman by Drake LaMarque
My rating:
Cedric is a rather feckless young man from London whose only talent seems to be getting into trouble. His despairing parents send him off to Kingston with his tutor, where they think there will be less opportunity for him to get in trouble. That plan clearly didn’t work out too well, so when Cedric returns home one morning after what he assumes was a particularly debauched night in a club — he assumes because he can’t remember any of it — he finds that his tutor has received orders for them to return immediately.
Review - Something Human by A.J. Demas
My rating:
Adares, the young archon of Tios, seems doomed to die of thirst and starvation on the battlefield outside of the city he only recently was elected ruler of. He’s not seriously hurt but he’s trapped under his horse and the ruins of a seige cart. Just as he is pretty much resigned to his fate, he’s pulled out of his predicament by Rus, a young priest-warrior from the attacking Luth tribe.

With the addition of his squire Ivan, Yaden’s small apartment in the Lotus Knight’s compound is getting rather crowded. Unfortunately, he will have to leave it to his fiance Colin to sort out new living arrangements, since Yaden and Ivan have to go on an urgent mission to deal with a psion causing havoc on another planet.

Miraculously, Azai survives and wakes up on the shore of a seemingly deserted island. However, it’s not long before he realizes he’s not alone.

Review - The Windmines of Bora Bora by Beryll Brackhaus and Osiris BrackHaus
My rating:
Ivan was supposed to be a powerful pyrokinetic psion. He has all the right genes but could never make them work. That becomes the least of his problems when his psychopathic half-sister kills their father and attempts to make Ivan her pet slave. Frustrated by Ivan’s repeated refusal to give her the love she thinks she deserves, the sister finally consigns her brother to the windmines of Bora Bora, a desolate place where the life expectancy for slaves is less than a few years.

When last we saw our slutty cabin boy Gideon, he had just been “rescued” by the British navy, and at least two of his lovers were now in the brig on the navy ship. Whether or not the merfolk Ora or the cat Zeb managed to escape is unknown.

He’s been sent to a seaside villa to negotiate the purchase of fish sauce from the owner, who happens to be an old friend from the capital city. It’s supposed to be a bit of a vacation, but on arrival he finds the house filled with philosophy students, and a businessman from a neighboring island-state who also has a captivating eunuch slave, Varazda.
