Review - The Luckiest Master by Sean Michael

My rating: * * *

Damien, ‘Day’ to his friends, is the new front office manager for the Iron Eagle Gym. It’s more than one person can handle and he’s desperate to find an assistant who can help him out. He wouldn’t mind finding a full time sub while he’s at it, but he doesn’t expect to find them both in the same man. ‘Saw’ is the perfect assistant, and he’s clearly a submissive who needs a master to take care of, only, having already lost one master and failed at business, Saw is convinced that he’s bad luck.

Review - That Darn Muse by Dan Skinner

My rating: * * * *

This small collection of short stories introduces us to Dirk, a young man who wishes to apprentice himself to the narrator of the stories (presumably ‘Doc’, although he never introduces himself). Doc is a professional photographer with a varied portfolio, which includes some erotic male work. There are just three stories in this first collection, plus a snippet of conversations with Dirk that have stuck in the narrator’s mind. The longer tales recount how Dirk and the narrator met and some of the early conversations they had while getting to know each other.

Review - What It Looks Like by Matthew J. Metzger

My rating: * * * * *

Eli is the son of a policeman and a forensic scientist. His parents clearly care for him, perhaps a little too much, but don’t really understand what the young man is going through. They certainly don’t understand Eli’s choice in boyfriends. Rob is almost the exact opposite of Eli. Abused as a child, Rob is very much from the wrong side of the tracks. He has had several run-ins with the law, and even spent a few years in prison.

This review originally appeared on the BDSM Book Reviews web site. Brandon is an extremely introverted writer, and dedicated submissive to his Dom Sean. Brandon’s books are very popular, but he is so painfully shy that attending cons or doing any of the other things popular authors do for publicity scares the life out of him. Being the good Dom he is, Sean respects Brandon’s boundaries, but he also tries to stretch his sub’s limits from time to time, which is why he convinces Brandon to attend a con.

Kyle is a policeman in a most unusual precinct. His squad is made up of men and women with paranormal capabilities, although they’re not exactly X-men. Everyone’s powers are a little ‘off’. There’s a firestarter who can’t spark if it’s wet, and a vampire who gets sick on whole blood, just to name a few. Then we have Kyle’s new partner Vakesh, who seems unflappable, but it turns out you don’t want to make him angry.

My rating: * * * *

Nineteen year-old Priddy is slowly recovering from a near overdose in the small Cornish fishing town where he grew up. It isn’t easy. He has a hard time focusing on anything for very long, and still seems to hallucinate from time to time. Priddy’s best friend Kit, who feels responsible for Priddy’s overdose, arranges for him to get a job as the lighthouse keeper. It isn’t a job that requires a lot, as it’s a automated lighthouse.
