Review - Song of Oestend by Marie Sexton
My rating:
Aren’s professor helped get him a job as a bookkeeper for a ranch in Oestend. It seemed like a favor at the time, but maybe it wasn’t. Oestend is about as far from the university in the capital as you can get. And, it turns out wraiths are real. If you go out at night, or even leave a window open, they will get to you and kill you. Deacon is the ranch foreman, and he keeps it running with an iron fist, if necessary.

My rating:
Ulysses and Sam travel to Brittany to get a break from things in Madison, and as a sort of honeymoon. They’re staying at an apartment in Carnac that’s been in Ulysses’ family for many years. Unfortunately, the mood of their first night in town is ruined a bit when they meet a colleague of Ulysses who seems to go out of her way to cast doubt on the theories forming a cornerstone of his doctoral thesis, which won him a prestigious award.

Review - Lazarus, Home from the War by E. H. Lupton
My rating:
Lazarus has returned home from the war in Southeast Asia and is trying to get used to civilian life. It isn’t easy, since he has what we now call post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It gives him flashbacks that can result in blackouts. The episodes come at some of the most inconvenient times, like when he meets an interesting man in a convenience store. As a neurologist, Eli recognizes Laz’s condition.

So far, all they’ve found are duds. Places that may be creepy, but don’t have any ghosts. When Payne approaches the team to help with the spirits haunting the old family mansion he inherited, it looks like the Supers have found what they’re looking for.
