Review - Primavera by Hayden Thorne
My rating:
Nineteen-year-old Adam has been having trouble with nightmares. They're so frequent and so bad that the lack of sleep is affecting his work and studies. Adam can't remember many details of the dreams but has the impression he's experiencing memories of an eighteenth-century Italian music teacher named Paolo. What does it all mean? “Primavera” is an unusual novella. I really had no idea where it was going with the parallel stories of Adam and Paolo.

Review - Metanoia by Young
My rating:
“Young” embarks on his last term of service in an Arabian household in this fifth and final volume of A Harem Boy's Saga. His host this time is a mercurial international sports enthusiast. Managing the whims of a temperamental master isn't Young's only challenge. He must also begin to think about the future, once he graduates, and whether or not that includes the love of his life, Andy. In this last book of the series, we start to see a much more mature author.

Review - Saved by the Bear by Holly Day
My rating:
Frode just found out he inherited a cabin in the woods along with a book from his recently deceased uncle. The book appears to be able to tell the future, but he isn't sure it can be trusted. It also shows a bear hanging around his house. Frode's downstairs neighbor, Imre, might be a bit scary, but he isn't a bear, right? “Saved by the Bear” is a short and sweet fairy tale of a story.
Review - The Lusty Journey of Perseus by Arthur Griffin
My rating:
Perseus has grown up on a tiny Mediterranean island and knows nothing of the outside world. He doesn't even have any friends his own age. When his mother is accosted by the island's king and the young man steps in to stop it, Perseus is given a quest: To save his mother from an unwanted marriage, he must kill Medusa and bring her head back to the king. Nobody expects the young man to come back alive, but they don't know the secret of his true parentage.

Review - Shaded Ember by Meraki P. Lyhne
My rating:
Kindly note: This series is very much meant to be read in order. If you haven't yet read the previous books of this series, this review may contain spoilers about how they turn out. In the wake of the first battles with Völsung, Sköll gains new insight into what drives the traditional enemy of the Vargr. Enough to see a way that an all-out war costing thousands, if not millions, of lives can be avoided.

Review - Prepared by Cara Dee
My rating:
Although delayed by the pandemic, Darius and Gray are finally getting their big day. As family and friends descend on the couple to help them celebrate their wedding, there may be times the pair wish they were back battling the human trafficking thugs. The boys will get through it. They always do. This last book in the Auctioned series is a bit of an anti-climax, but it's not without a fair bit of drama.

But then, one day, the station is boarded by a man hell-bent on finding something he thinks Eshan has. The man kills Eshan and thinks he's killed Silas, but the young man somehow survives and finds himself on a planet occupied primarily by lizard-like refugees.

Review - Mind Controlling the Haughty Mage by Adara Wolf & R. Phoenix
My rating:
Content warning: The book in this review contains non-consensual sex. Drake is rich, titled, and entitled. He doesn't like mixing with people he considers beneath him. When he spots Remy Chalet entering his exclusive club, Drake can tell the man is not in his class and can't help but make every attempt to embarrass him. Little does he know that Chalet specializes in a particularly powerful form of magic. When Drake again attempts to cause trouble for Chalet and the Lord who invited him, he gets a full taste of Chalet's talent.

Review - Pool of Dreams by Sam Burns and W.M. Fawkes
My rating:
Fae Syren has been alone in his forest pool for 300 years, ever since his human lover sacrificed himself to help create a “break” between the human and fae worlds. Otherwise, the fae, led by a cruel prince, would have wiped out the humans. Syren was the only fae left on the human side, and his only company, aside from the magical sword that killed his beloved, is a bluebird he named Beryl.
