Tate’s short temper has gotten him into trouble, and not for the first time. He’s arrested after getting into a brawl at a stop sign. Problem is, he was on his way home from a robbery at the time, so the police have him on that as well. Tate is surprised when he is released without charge on the orders of Ramsey, a man who says he was a friend of Tate’s late mother. Ramsey is the town’s boss. He controls most of what happens through legal and illegal businesses and the police. Ramsey is also Tate’s father, although he had nothing to do with the young man until he showed up back in town.

“The Chaos We Create” is a kinky, twisted tale that features people who live outside the law as well as most of the other “rules” of society. The book is part of the growing number of incest porn, although like most of it, the incest part is only a technicality. Ramsey and Tate had never really met until the twenty-something Tate returned to town, and it’s not like either of them is going to get pregnant as a result of a sexual relationship.

Tate is definitely an angry young man. He doesn’t talk much about his childhood, but there’s enough to guess at what it must have been like to shape him into the young man he has become. Still, beneath the headstrong exterior with a hair trigger is a vulnerable young man who needs the kind of guiding hand Ramsey can provide, even if it’s not the most ethical choice. It’s also easy to see Tate as a younger version of Ramsey, which is probably a large part of the attraction for the older man.

I thought the initial reason Ramsey stated for bringing Tate into his life was a bit flimsy. However, once the two meet and the sparks fly, that original reason hardly matters. Ramsey doesn’t quite fit the common stereotype of a mob boss in most respects. He’s gay and doesn’t care who knows it. Ramsey is not completely without a moral compass. He is loyal to those close to him, and expects it fully in return. Ramsey may be ruthless with those who cross him, but he is exceedingly generous to those close to him.
