In this direct sequel to Limitless, Nash and Joshua continue to try and build a relationship as Dom and sub, which isn’t easy. Nash worries that if he gives in to Joshua’s desire for extreme pain, he will be reinforcing the younger man’s destructive behavior. Joshua has never really had stability or happiness in his life, and he’s come to believe it’s his fault, so he’s just waiting for the day when Nash realizes it was a mistake to take on someone so messed up.

Like the first book in the series, “The Edge” offers a very believable story of a man struggling with mental health issues, and the challenges faced by not only him, but the people who love him. It’s unlikely that any of us have suffered the kind of abuse that Joshua has been through, but we can probably still relate to his worry that things with Nash are too good to last.

This would be a rather depressing book were it not for the occasional kinky interlude. That is not to say the sex between Nash and Joshua is in any way superfluous to the plot. In truth, working out how to satisfy each other without exacerbating Joshua’s issues is a key driver of the plot. Without the sex, we wouldn’t really be able to understand most of Joshua’s ups and downs, or why Nash takes the steps he does.

Without giving away any details, it’s worth pointing out that this book effectively concludes the story of Joshua and Nash. There’s no indication if there will be further books in the series, but there is one new character introduced in this story that you’ll probably want to see featured in a story of his own.

“The Edge” is available from Amazon (commissionable link).
