Review - Meeting Tiberius and Other Roman Tales by Clodia Metilli
My rating:
In this collection of stories featuring Gaius, Tiberius, Achilles and other characters from the previous two books of the series, we learn a bit more about Gaius’ past as well as glimpses of the future after the end of Gaius and Achilles. The first story, which gives the collection its name, recounts how Gaius and Tiberius first met, while later ones tell us about Achilles’ life with Gaius after being freed.

Review - The Cat Wore Electric Goggles by Ian Hutson
My rating:
If P.G. Wodehouse and Douglas Adams had a love child, the result would probably be Ian Hutson. This collection of twelve short stories combines the whimsical humor of both authors, the science fiction bent of Adams and the nostalgia for an earlier era of Wodehouse. The title story, The Cat Wore Electric Goggles, is a tale of the exploration of a mysterious planet. Although set in the future, the technology has a decidedly 1960s feel to it.
Review - Bump in the Night
My rating:
This review originally appeared in slightly different form at BDSM Book Reviews. This collection of four previously published short stories features an entire panoply of things that go “bump in the night”, from ghosts to vampires to shape-shifting creatures. The stories are varied, but there is something of a common theme of finding love in unexpected places. In “Haunted” a ghost returns to a costume shop near where he died each year on the anniversary of his demise, on Halloween, to make love to the shop’s owner.
Review - I Once Had a Master
My rating:
“I Once Had a Master” is a collection of nine short stories by one of the masters (if you’ll pardon the expression) of gay BDSM erotica. Preston passed away in 1994 and the book, originally published in 1985, is only available in print, so it’s taken me a while to get my hands on it. The collection isn’t exactly what I was expecting. While the stories are almost all hard-core in one way or another, there’s a lot more to them than just the kinky sex, which often plays a minor role.
Review - The Boys Club
My rating:
This collection of - let’s be honest - one-handed reads features twelve stories by eleven authors. Here’s a short summary and quickie review of each: The Fanboys by Stella Harris: Shane and Danny are two star-struck fans of actor Eric Ashcroft. They contrive to meet their idol, who is filming nearby, and get much more than they bargained for when the star invites the young men back to his trailer. A rather sweet little crush fantasy.
