Review - Risk Takers by Nicky James
My rating:
Harley and Denver are brothers, but they're polar opposites. Harley takes after their lithe blond mother, while Denver favors their darker, stockier father. Gay Denver is serious and responsible. Bi Harley likes to party. Older brother Denver tries to keep his younger brother out of trouble while they're at college. Harley thinks it's his responsibility to get his older brother to lighten up and enjoy life. To that end, he talks Denver into going to a party that promises booze, drugs, sex, and every other vice a college kid can think of.

My rating:
Far into the future, a generation ship from Earth finds a planet with the right atmosphere, plenty of water, and an established ecosystem, but no intelligent life, or so they think. It's only well after the settlements are established that the humans discover the planet is taken care of by an omniscient guardian. The guardian, having studied the Earthlings, is willing to let them stay, but only if they abide by his decisions regarding the use of the planet's resources.

Review - Mage Bond by Eden Winters
My rating:
Arkenn was raised in a small village by his loving parents and grandmother. His mother entertained him as a small boy with tales of fearless bonded mages who tried to fight against an evil demon from another realm. Mages were banned in Arkenn's world. One day, people came to take Arkenn's parents away, accusing them of being mages. He never saw them again. Not long after, the villagers turned on Arkenn and his grandmother, accusing them of being mages too.

Review - Hostage to Fortune by L.M. Somerton
My rating:
Milo is an extremely wealthy young man, or he will be in another year when he inherits the money his parents left to him after they were killed. Until then, he's under the thumb of his sadistic uncle, who seems to delight in inflicting the maximum amount of mental and physical pain on the young man. There's no escape, since Milo's uncle pays for the care of his twin brother, who was also injured in the crash that killed his parents.
Review - The Grocer's Son by Garrick Jones
My rating:
Clyde's latest case comes very close to home. His young friend and one-time lover, Harley, comes to Clyde with a strange story. Harley and his mother were in the market one day when they were accosted by a man claiming to be his mother's brother, who was hanged for murder 20 years before. He also says that he is Harley's real father. The young man's mother faints, and the stranger disappears before he can answer any questions.

Review - My Cameron by M.A. Innes
My rating:
The alien invasion didn't go at all like anyone expected from the Hollywood movies. A group of squid-like beings from a planet with a dying sun showed up one day and politely asked if they could stay. They settled among humans and began the long process of trying to integrate into human society. Cameron's alien neighbor, George, keeps flirting with him, but Cameron isn't sure the alien is serious, and his job keeps him very busy.
