Jason is celebrating his university graduation at a fraternity party. Only, someone has drugged the beer. When the police are called, officer Harry finds Jason too out of it to say where he lives. Rather than let the young man spend the night in the drunk tank, Harry makes the dubious decision to take Jason to his place to sleep it off. When Jason wakes up the next morning, badly hungover but clearheaded, he finds himself strongly attracted to Harry. The feeling is mutual, but a relationship with a police officer is not always easy.
“When Harry Met Jason” is a spicy romance following a budding relationship between two young men. It’s a very sweet story with very little drama. The tension mostly comes via Jason’s best friend Sammy, who seems to have picked up a stalker at the same party where Jason was drugged. The situation escalates until things come to a head, involving not just Sammy but also Jason and Harry.
The narration alternates between Harry and Jason’s points of view. We first meet Jason as he’s about to face one of life’s big turning points: graduating from college and entering the job market. First, he has to get through his final exams, then he and his best friend Sammy have to move out of a dorm into their very first apartment. Jason comes across as a sweet young man. It’s easy to see why Harry becomes so besotted with him.
Harry also seems to be a nice man. Probably too nice to be believable as a police officer these days. His job is key to the story line, but if you can suspend your disbelief over the idea of a good cop, the story of their relationship is otherwise believable. This book appears to be something of a prequel introducing Harry, Jason, and Sammy. The next book will focus on Sammy, who has some kinky needs.
