FBI agent Miles was injured protecting Indy when hitmen raided the farm where they were hiding. Since Miles has no family, Indy and Noah have him moved to a hospital in Albany so they can take care of him while he recovers. Their friend Brad can also help Miles with his very unique ‘problem.’ Once he is discharged, Miles comes to live with Indy, Noah, Josh and Connor, as well as Brad and Charlie, who are staying with them after Charlie escaped his abusive boyfriend. Miles is attracted to both Brad and Charlie, but Brad has his own issues which make it hard for anyone to get close to him. It’s going to take more than one person to get through to him.
You might have thought the No Shame series was at its end with the last book. It’s definitely a case of “but wait, there’s more!” In the last installment, we met FBI agent Miles as well as drag queen Charlie and his best friend Brad. It’s quite a cast of characters now, so you need to have read all the previous books in the series to know everyone’s backstory.
While Miles’ character is the catalyst that triggers new feelings, the pivotal character in this book is Brad. The young math teacher has a lot of issues that make him keep everyone at arm’s length. Getting Brad to let Miles and Charlie in enough to understand what he needs is hard work, but they think he’s worth it.
“Found family” and accepting your kinks have been two common themes throughout this series, and they’re driven home in this next-to-last installment. Indy’s chance encounter with Josh, Connor and Noah started the creation of a found family. It’s an unusual family, which gets solidified and extended even further in this book. Almost all the members of this “family” have a kink of one kind or another. The family itself can be regarded as a kink. Some of them thought the kink made them an unlovable freak, but the group is all about overcoming those negative thoughts and embracing what makes you different.
