Abraham has made a life for himself as the peacekeeper of a small island town after being exiled from his father’s castle for refusing to marry a woman of his father’s choosing. One day, a mysterious ship drops anchor in the harbor. It turns out to be pirates, who need a safe place for one of their crew, and take Abraham hostage to ensure the safety of the people left behind. The captain of the pirates turns out to be Redding, Abraham’s boyhood lover who was beaten and left for dead when the two were discovered together. Redding has spent years searching the world for Abraham, and now that he’s found him, he doesn’t want to let go.
“Searching the Seas” is an erotically charged romantic fantasy set in the days of sailing ships and the pirates that preyed on them. The situation is set up quickly and efficiently. Once Abraham recognizes his old lover, the two don’t waste any time reconnecting physically.
As you might expect from a story that’s more about sex than anything else, there’s just enough character development to get you interested in the two men and provide a basic feeling for their personalities. In some ways, the author may have built up the characters a little too well. I couldn’t help wondering how things would really work out for the couple. It seemed like there were a lot of loose ends left at the end.
