Review - A Rulebook for Restless Rogues by Jess Everlee
My rating:
Noah and David have been friends since their days at boarding school. Back then, they were friends with benefits, but they followed career paths which took them in different directions. After his family business when up in flames, literally, David became the manager of the Curious Fox, a bar catering to a very selective clientele of men who prefer the company of other men. Noah is a frequent visitor to the bar, usually in the guise of his alter-ego, Miss Penelope.

Review - DragonRider by S. Rodman
My rating:
Kirby has set himself up as a sort of freelance mage, offering wards, spells, maybe the odd potion, to whomever needs them. He receives a commission involving a castle in Wales, but he’s not sure of the specifics. When he arrives, the imperious young man who greets him informs Kirby that he is just there to “round out the numbers” for the selection of a new dragon rider. Dragons were one of the few mythical creatures that Kirby was sure didn’t exist, so he’s thrilled just to get to meet one.

When Adam was in high school and had very little control over his abilities, his older brother had Adam committed to a mental hospital. When he comes of age, Adam goes in search of his father, who abandoned the family when Adam was still a small boy.

Review - The Price of Surrender by C.J. Dragon
My rating:
The humans’ first encounter with the Daranii didn't go well. It started a war Earth had no hope of winning. They only beat the more advanced race in one battle, under the command of Captain Jonathan Thomsin. When Earth is forced to surrender, one of the terms calls for Captain Thomsin to be turned over to the Duranii as a “sacrifice.” Jon knows he will probably be executed, and he definitely won't ever see Earth again.

Content warning: The book featured in this review describes a sexual relationship that develops between three close relatives. Twenty years ago, Denver developed a sexual relationship with his brother Harley. It all started as a drunken dare at a college party and ended abruptly when bisexual Harley found out a former hookup was pregnant. Harley married the woman and focused on raising their son, Edison. Twenty years on, Denver has never really gotten over the interlude, and Edison is the spitting image of his father at twenty.
