Review - Lazarus, Home from the War by E. H. Lupton
My rating:
Lazarus has returned home from the war in Southeast Asia and is trying to get used to civilian life. It isn’t easy, since he has what we now call post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It gives him flashbacks that can result in blackouts. The episodes come at some of the most inconvenient times, like when he meets an interesting man in a convenience store. As a neurologist, Eli recognizes Laz’s condition.

Review - The Librarian's Ghost by Sean Michael
My rating:
Will and his team of supernatural investigators are having a hard time finding a case of a true haunting after their harrowing experiences at an abandoned hospital. So far, all they’ve found are duds. Places that may be creepy, but don’t have any ghosts. When Payne approaches the team to help with the spirits haunting the old family mansion he inherited, it looks like the Supers have found what they’re looking for.

While touring Egypt as a young boy with his archaeologist father, Albion sees his first spirit. It’s not the last ghost the boy will encounter, but the memory of that first one sticks with him. More than a decade later, Albion has graduated from Cambridge and is determined to return to Egypt in search of answers. However, the first person of note he encounters in Cairo is a young Aleister Crowley.

Review - The Supers by Sean Michael
My rating:
Blaine grew up on a farm and helps his parents run the produce stand. In his spare time, he and his friends are ghost hunters. The team needs a new tech person after their old one moved away, and the leader, Jason, finds Flynn. When Blaine and Flynn meet, the sparks fly almost from the start, but is it real or some weird effect of the case they’re working on involving two lovers who died in the local, now abandoned, hospital?

Review - Troth by E. H. Lupton
My rating:
Sam and Ulysses have taken their relationship to the next step by renting an apartment and moving in together. Things are far from settled, though, as Sam continues to attract unwanted attention from both government agents and the remnants of his grandfather’s team of scientists who were trying to create demigods. To complicate things, Ulysses’ brother Lazarus is back from service in Vietnam, and clearly has his own issues to deal with.

Review - Deadbeat Druid by David R. Slayton
My rating:
When we left our two heroes in the previous book, Vic, along with Jodi, had been pulled into the realm of the dead by Adam’s evil great-grandfather. Adam is determined to rescue his boyfriend, even if it means defying the immortals and making a deal with Death herself. It’s time for another road trip through the levels of the underworld where the living don’t belong and the normal rules don’t seem to apply.

Note, this book is part of a series meant to be read in order. This review of the second book in the set may contain spoilers about the first installment. Cassius and Morgan are trying to come to terms with the realization they are both demigods, as well as their undeniable attraction to each other. The pair are also working together at Argonaut as part of Morgan’s team, looking into crimes involving supernaturals.

Review - Come to the Water by David Connor and E.F. Mulder
My rating:
Keith-Aaron enjoys his life in the quirky small Louisiana town of Eerie Falls. He likes his job as a cashier in the local supermarket and doesn’t really have any ambition to do anything else. He has many friends, including Dusty, the aged owner of the local funeral parlor, who does nothing to deny the rumors that he’s immortal. Keith-Aaron lives with Dusty’s great-grandson Marc in an apartment over the home’s garage.

Review - Old Time Religion by E. H. Lupton
My rating:
Months after Ulysses kept Sam from being taken over by the god Dionysus, the two men are still sorting things out. Sam may not be a god, but he’s not entirely human any more either. The pair still have feelings for each other, but aren’t sure where it’s going. It doesn’t make things any easier when Ulysses’ ex-girlfriend shows up seeking his help with her dead husband. It all forces Sam and Ulysses to take another look at the machinations of Sam’s grandfather.
