Review - Valter by Alexis Woods
My rating:
Valter is the youngest of the five children of the king and queen. Soon, his parents will be trying to marry him off to some princess, which is a rather depressing thought. Valter's preferences lie in another direction. But Fate has other plans for the young man. On his eighteenth birthday, after a particularly cruel round of bullying from his older siblings, Valter discovers that he's fated to mate with not one but two other men.
Review - High Interest Dette by Lilo Quie
My rating:
Bastien helps Leo and Gabriel take care of their large broods of dragon pups. He's very good with children but isn't sure he wants pups of his own. Bastien's heats are so painful that he thinks he may just want to be sterilized. Anyway, to have pups, he would need a drake, and what drake would be interested in a half-breed dette? Stefan and Gaelin have been lovers of a sort for many years.
Review - Farkas by Kim Fielding
My rating:
Lee Harker works hard for his law firm in 1950s Los Angeles. He doesn't have much of a life outside of work, but it's what you do if you're a young lawyer who wants to make junior partner one day. One night, as he's working late as usual, one of the senior partners walks into his office and gives Lee a new assignment. Lee is to pack a bag and leave the next day to advise a very special client at his home.
Review - A Winter Fox by J.C. Owens
My rating:
Beware that this review contains some minor spoilers about the plot. The book is very hard to review without revealing a few things. Albion has been such a cunning general that his people, and even his enemies, have nicknamed him the “Winter Fox.” The thing is, Albion didn't want war. He tried to prevent it, but even killing his uncle, the king, proved to be too little, too late. Now, after four long years of fighting, his forces have dwindled and spend more time on the run than in battle.

Review - Scintilla by Elizabeth Noble
My rating:
Brandon is a scintilla, a human with the power to wield electricity. His particular skill, kept a closely guarded secret, is the ability to manipulate computers. He is the ultimate “hacker.” No firewall or complex password can stop him. Brandon's adoptive family has grown rich using his skills, even though the young man is just an employee of the company that wouldn't exist without him. Brandon is also gay and a little bit kinky.

Review - The Blacksmith's Apprentice by Bey Deckard
My rating:
Village blacksmith Eyck is a big, muscular guy, but he's really a gentle and kind-hearted man who thinks the caste system is outdated. When he sees a low-caste slave being brutally beaten, he has to intervene. He ends up buying the slave and tells the mute teen boy he's free, but the frightened teenager runs away in the night. Five years later, the young man, now grown up and calling himself Wex, show up asking to be Eyck's apprentice.

Review - Mind Controlling the Brute by Adara Wolf & R. Phoenix
My rating:
Bruce engages in a lot of manly outdoor sports, so he's a big strapping fellow. Big everywhere, apparently. His mother is trying to marry him off to a well-off lady, which is the thing to do. However, it doesn't help his prospects that his family is on the verge of bankruptcy, and everyone seems to know it. At one of those parties where he's supposed to woo one of those women, Bruce spots Saville.

Review - The Uses of Illicit Art by Wendy Palmer
My rating:
Kit is an Artisan, a person with magical powers. His rather unusual gift is locks. He can open almost any door, safe, or vault. After he registered with the Artisan's Guild, which is supposed to protect him, his information was leaked, and the young man became the target of unsavory characters that coerced Kit into helping them with their illegal activities. Of course, that got him into trouble with the very guild that was supposed to keep him safe, so now he's in hiding.
Review - Saved by the Bear by Holly Day
My rating:
Frode just found out he inherited a cabin in the woods along with a book from his recently deceased uncle. The book appears to be able to tell the future, but he isn't sure it can be trusted. It also shows a bear hanging around his house. Frode's downstairs neighbor, Imre, might be a bit scary, but he isn't a bear, right? “Saved by the Bear” is a short and sweet fairy tale of a story.
Review - Shaded Ember by Meraki P. Lyhne
My rating:
Kindly note: This series is very much meant to be read in order. If you haven't yet read the previous books of this series, this review may contain spoilers about how they turn out. In the wake of the first battles with Völsung, Sköll gains new insight into what drives the traditional enemy of the Vargr. Enough to see a way that an all-out war costing thousands, if not millions, of lives can be avoided.
