Review - Imperatrix by S.P. Somtow
My rating:
Sporus’ master Petronius is dead, having taken his own life after being implicated in a plot to overthrow Emperor Nero. Petronius freed Sporus before he died, but nobody is truly free from the attentions of the mad emperor. Without his protector, Sporus must quickly learn how to navigate the ups and downs of Nero’s mercurial temperament, as well as the intrigues of the imperial court. It will take all his skills to keep his head, not to mention other parts of his anatomy.

Review - Betrayal by J.C. Owens
My rating:
Darcel grew up on the streets, stealing food and doing whatever was needed when necessary. A chance encounter with Prince Alasar of Rais brings the young man to court, where he grows to love the prince, even though he knows there’s no chance the two could ever have a relationship. The kingdom is under attack by “barbarians” along its border. Seeking a peaceful solution, Darcel attempts to contact the invaders, but is captured.

Review - Madison Square Murders by C.S. Poe
My rating:
Detective Everett Larkin has an excellent memory. It’s not just photographic. Everett has a very rare quality that allows him to remember everything he sees. Everything he hears. Everything he feels. It may seem like a very good attribute for a cold case detective to have, but the emotional cost is quite high, since any event in his day may send Larkin spiraling back to relieve a past trauma. His latest case proves to be a minefield.

Review - The Taste of Desert Green by Kim Fielding
My rating:
Zephyr has been on his own since he was a boy. He has learned to rely on himself and nobody else. Although comfortable with his body, he likes to express himself in very feminine ways. When he needs money for food or to pay for a cheap hotel, Zephyr offers his body to men willing to pay for it. That doesn’t always work out well. One day, a trucker, full of self-loathing over what he has done, beats Zephyr up and leaves him by a dumpster in a small desert town.

Review - Tripwrecked by A. Poland
My rating:
Aiden feels trapped in a life that doesn't belong to him. He hates his job, and nothing he does makes his mother happy, yet she expects him to be at her beck and call. When Aiden walks in on his long-term boyfriend in bed with someone else, he decides to take a break from it all. The small seaside town on Australia's Sunshine Coast is about as far away from Dublin as Aiden could get.
