Review - Damnatio by S.P. Somtow
My rating:
Sporus is on his way to Greece with Nero, after the emperor had the young man’s genitals removed so that he would remain looking forever young, in the image of the Empress Poppaea, whom Nero killed in a fit of rage. The onetime slave may now be Empress of Rome, but in every way that matters, Sporus has less freedom than when he belonged to Petronius. I had thought that this third book would be the final in the series, but there’s now a fourth book announced.

Review - The Problem With Perfect by Philip William Stover
My rating:
Ethan is the producer of a very popular gay lifestyle show, Myles of Style, starring Chase Myles, a very attractive young man Ethan met in a small cafe. Unfortunately, Ethan has created a bit of a monster with Chase, who treats everyone with disdain and is known for his frequent tantrums on set. It’s only a few weeks until pride and the pressure is on to get all the content filmed for the big day.

Review - Deadbeat Druid by David R. Slayton
My rating:
When we left our two heroes in the previous book, Vic, along with Jodi, had been pulled into the realm of the dead by Adam’s evil great-grandfather. Adam is determined to rescue his boyfriend, even if it means defying the immortals and making a deal with Death herself. It’s time for another road trip through the levels of the underworld where the living don’t belong and the normal rules don’t seem to apply.

Review - Subway Slayings by C.S. Poe
My rating:
Everett Larkin is ready to go back on duty after recovering from injuries he received on his last case. He doesn’t even get to his desk in the squadroom before Larkin is called to the scene of a murder. It doesn’t look like a job for the cold case detective, but an old photograph of a dead girl says otherwise. Larkin once again partners with forensic artist Ira Doyle and together the pair uncover a murder spree that has gone on for decades.

Keith-Aaron enjoys his life in the quirky small Louisiana town of Eerie Falls. He likes his job as a cashier in the local supermarket and doesn’t really have any ambition to do anything else. He has many friends, including Dusty, the aged owner of the local funeral parlor, who does nothing to deny the rumors that he’s immortal. Keith-Aaron lives with Dusty’s great-grandson Marc in an apartment over the home’s garage.

Review - Running Ember by Meraki P. Lyhne
My rating:
Matt/Sköll and the other three “alphas of all” are getting ready to make an epic run through all of Scandinavia, gather other Vargr, Völsung, Sleipnir, and whatever other long-forgotten sibling races they can before leading them to Brussels to demand their rights be recognized. But, along the way, they uncover more clues to unlock the past. Those clues come at a cost, and understanding their implications may challenge the beliefs of Vargr, Cubi, and the other races.
Review - Turtle Bay by John Patrick
My rating:
Hans escapes the Nazi prison camp where he was being repeatedly raped by one of the guards. He makes his way to Ireland, where James and Otto help to get him on a boat to America. The pair of lovers come with Hans, as their own situation has become dangerous for them. Five years later, the war is over and they’re all settled in New York. Hans runs a boarding house that is very selective about the kind of men it accommodates.

Review - White Trash Warlock by David R. Slayton
My rating:
Adam has “the Sight,” the ability to see into other realms and even visit them in spirit. The gift hasn’t been very beneficial to Adam. When Adam was in high school and had very little control over his abilities, his older brother had Adam committed to a mental hospital. When he comes of age, Adam goes in search of his father, who abandoned the family when Adam was still a small boy.

Review - Leap by Laura Perry
My rating:
Adelphos is the Cattle Master for the Minoan city of Phaistos. It's an important job since one of his primary responsibilities is raising and training the bulls for the leaping ceremonies accompanying major festivals. Adelphos is very good at his work, but he hasn't been able to get over the guilt and grief from the death of his lover two years ago. When a beautiful new bull leaper catches his eye, Adelphos is plunged into a well of self-recrimination that might destroy him.
