Review - Translucid by Zen DiPietro
My rating: 
Emé Fallon wakes up the infirmary of Dragonfire Station after a minor shuttle accident. Her injuries were mostly minor, except for a head injury that seems to have robbed her of some of her memories. She remembers how to do her job as security chief but she doesn’t remember anything about her past, her coworkers, or even her wife of six months. As she returns to work and tries to relearn her past, she begins to feel that things don’t add up.

In this retelling of the original 1912 classic “The Mummy”, Dr Quentin Armiston is a middle-aged physician whose Edwardian-era London practice consists mainly of the cooks, chauffeurs, housekeepers and other assorted servants of the upper classes. He is single, but has never really felt lonely, and besides, his true desires are the kind that could land you in jail. One day, a young gentleman comes to get Armiston to attend the death of his friend.

Review - The Closet Boy by Sean Michael

Way’ra (“Way”) is thrown out onto the streets when his extremely religious parents catch him kissing another boy. Way manages to land a job as a janitor at the gym, but with no money except what he had on him when kicked out, he doesn’t have any place to stay, so he’s been living in a disused closet at the gym, and hoping nobody will notice. But gym member Neal notices Way, and is quite captivated by the younger man.

My rating:
Rian’s life is not exactly that of a story-book prince. He is abused sexually and physically by his brother the king, with almost no hope of escaping. The last person to try and help him was mercilessly slaughtered right in front of him. After his latest attempt to flee the country, the king hires foreign mercenaries to watch over him. The Hawks are known as fierce and ruthless warriors, but they are also a deeply spiritual people.

A few centuries in the future, humans are at war with an alien race called the Algonquans. The government passes strict laws about who can marry and who can breed, and of course conscripts poor young men to fight their war. Dale is one such young man. One moment, he’s a lowly technician on the flight deck of a Terran spaceship, and the next thing he knows he is in the hold of an Algonquan ship where has been taken prisoner.

Review - Wrapped Together by Annabeth Albert

Hollis and Sawyer have known each other since high school, and it would be hard to imagine two more different people. Hollis is a typical introvert: quiet and serious, he carefully considers each decision, avoids frivolity as well as crowds, and constantly over-thinks everything, especially when it comes to Sawyer. By comparison, Sawyer is outgoing and cheerful, quick to develop new passions, whether it’s a hobby or a new boyfriend, but, at least in Hollis’ eyes, just as quick to lose interest.

The Chaos Station series comes to a rousing conclusion in this fifth and final volume of the series. The story starts out innocently enough, with Zed attempting to propose to Felix. But the romantic moment is interrupted by someone attempting to steal the crew’s data about the secret project that turned Zed into a super-soldier. The hunt for the thieves brings Zander and Felix up against an old nemesis, and in conflict with the Guardians themselves.
