Bangkok's Penis Garden
The topic of “monuments to the male member” came up again recently on social media, so I thought it might actually make for an interesting topic for a continuing series of articles - there are a lot of penis statues around Southeast Asia, and I have pictures of many of them. This article is about a little shrine in Bangkok called the Chao Mae Tubtim shrine. It's quite well known, and in most guidebooks, but it's slightly out-of-the-way so it doesn't get very many visitors.

Phallic Shrines in Thailand
One of the charming things about Thailand, and much of Asia for that matter, is that they're much less hung up on depictions of the male member. In fact, some religions even venerate a crude representation of the male phallus. I imagine many of you have worshiped at that altar, haven't you? In Thailand, phallic charms and wood carvings are popular. They serve many purposes, such as 'protecting' a guy's real manhood from attack by evil spirits, or to simply encourage, err, propagation.
