Fifteen-year-old Tar rescues eight-year-old Merrick from a burning house, which his father was robbing before setting fire to it. Things go from bad to worse when Tar's father leaves the two boys to fend for themselves. He doesn't know that Tar has surreptitiously transferred a book from the stolen loot to his own bag. What starts as a bit of adventure for the two soon turns nasty when a group of evil faeries come looking for the book.

Review - Inbetweeners by Barbara Elsborg

Emmett feels like the only unhappy person in heaven. No amount of encouragement by the happy people is changing that. Down in Hell, Phoenix is also very unhappy, but then, he's supposed to be, and he thinks he knows why he's there. When the two men are selected for a task that will send them back to Earth, it seems like a lucky reprieve for both of them. But, working together may be difficult.

Garrett is a fae who works in his father's Christmas shop, making magical toys and sometimes dealing with faeries who have broken the rules while in the human realm. One day his store is visited by Crispin, an apparently human young man about Garrett's age who shouldn't be able to see or enter the shop, but does so anyway. They spend a magical day together, and Garrett gives Crispin a specially created bee that should be able to lead Crispin back to the store when it reopens the following year.

Review - Double Trouble by Barbara Elsborg

Raffety is trying to learn to play the violin. He's awful, but his teacher seems to think he has promise and arranges a free stay at a summer camp. His mother is thrilled. Raffety's father died when he was a baby, and his mother has been struggling to give him things. Camp is bewildering. All of the other kids seem strange, and the staff even more peculiar. The only bright spot is Jonah.
