Review - Scorpion
My rating:
As “Scorpion” opens, Kendras is limping into the seedy underbelly of the city where he grew up. He was wounded in battle, his foot almost crushed, and then dumped back in the city that hired him without money or means to live. Kendras is a Scorpion, an elite force of mercenaries. He might be the only one left. While sitting in a tavern trying to avoid attracting attention, Kendras is spotted by Steel, a mysterious man who needs Kendras for his own plans, but who is also strongly attracted to the Scorpion.

Review - Incursion
My rating:
Kyle is an ex-soldier of the future, when humanity has spread to many different worlds and developed into many distinct cultures, not to mention a few genetic variations based on environmental necessity or economics. He’s an ’ex’ soldier because he’s been wounded by a weapon based on the technology of an alien species which has become a threat to humanity. Kyle no longer has the use of his legs, and must get around with the help of a prosthetic exoskeleton.

Review - Dark Soul
My rating:
When I first started seeing blurbs for this book, I have to say it didn’t appeal to me. It’s hard for mafia stories not to come off as caricature. But I like the author - especially for his use of times and themes not usually found in m/m stories - so when the publisher offered the book for 50% off, it was impossible to resist. In a way, it’s a good thing I didn’t pay full price for the book, because frankly, at $3.
Review: Test of Faith
My rating:
I’m surprised there aren’t more m/m books set in the crusades. It would seem to be fertile ground. “Test of Faith” was quite a refreshing change from the Regency/Victorian setting of most historical romances these days. It doesn’t have a happily ever after ending, which is disappointing but true to the characters. There are a couple of reasons I didn’t give it four stars: The point of view flip-flops between the two protagonists - Abdul and Thierry.
