I've just published the latest - and last for now - book about David & Gun: Letting Go.

In this latest book about the two lovers, we follow the couple and the two young men they brought into their lives in Five At Table, Tom and Chang. More...

WIP - Worlds Apart

Posted in Work In Progress on Oct 12, 2012

Quite a few things happening at once now, as always:

I just finished the first draft of another book, which I'm calling “Worlds Apart” for now. I even, just a few days ago, made a first stab at the cover. This book is another new departure for me, since the best category I can put it in is Science Fiction, although at its core there's still a story of the relationship between two men.

Parts of this story have been knocking around my head for many, many years, long before I seriously took up writing fiction, or even travel writing come to that. In fact, this work owes a lot to a book I read about 40 years ago: “Who?” by Algis Budrys. I've used what I remember of the structure of that book, as well as some of the central themes, in my story, although I believe “Worlds Apart” is a very different kind of book from the cold war era setting of “Who?” More...

Places That Inspire - The Elephant Terrace

Posted in Background on Sep 15, 2012

I recently realized that I've used a certain setting in three of my books, and yet I've never written a post about it. The place is the Terrace of Elephants in Angkor Thom, the huge royal city complex near Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It appears, however briefly and in different time periods, in Journey to Angkor, The Naga's Treasure and my latest work in progress, “Letting Go”. More...

Work In Progress - August 2012

Posted in Work In Progress on Aug 23, 2012

It's been a while since I issued any update, and there's been a reason for that - beyond simply not having anything to share. I'll [maybe] get to that in a moment, but first I do have some progress to report.

At long last I put the finishing touches on the first draft of “Letting Go”. It's a bit shorter than More...

Excerpt - Letting Go, Chapter Two

Posted in Work In Progress on Jul 19, 2012

The new David & Gun book, Letting Go, is slowly coming together. The first draft is almost complete, although there's still a lot of polish needed here and there. It's hard to say when it will be finished, since I seem to be spending endless amounts of time tweaking a few passages, but I'm reasonably confident it will be ready some time in the fall, so I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek at a chapter. Cover Reveal - Letting Go

Posted in Work In Progress on Jun 25, 2012

The first draft of my next book, Letting Go is well on its way towards completion, so it's time to start thinking about the cover:

Letting Go picks up the story of my last book, Five At Table, more or less where it left off. It continues the tale of David, his husband/Dom/lover Gun, and the three young men that have become part of their family: Tom, Chang and Den. This book is more episodic in nature, as it weaves together stories about all the men in David's life. While each person has their own story, there's still something of theme to this book, which led me to the title and the cover art.

At least one chapter is, I think, polished enough to share, so I'll probably be posting the first excerpt from the book in the next few weeks. It was the first scene I wrote for the book, and I think it's rather interesting.

This is very likely the last David & Gun book, at least for a while. I think I've explored as much of their relationship as I can, at least for now. I'm certainly not going to draw a line under them or anything like that, so don't worry. I plan to leave the two men happy-for-now as they say in the book biz at the end of Letting Go. I just don't plan to pick up the story again. But, as they also say, “never say never”. If I think of new situations to put the men or their boys in, I might go back to them again. More...
