Volume 3 of Power Exchange

You could be forgiven for thinking we had seen the end of the stories featuring detective Gavin DeGrassi. At the conclusion of the last book, Safeword, he was retired from the police force after yet another harrowing case that nearly cost him his life, his home, and his Dom Ben. But when Gavin's sister-in-law and former partner Myah is snatched from a supermarket parking lot, he can't just sit on the sidelines. Together with Ben and his brother Cole, they follow a trail to Chicago and Myah's old precinct, where they uncover a tangled web of missing rent boys and dirty cops. More...

Guarded

This is one of those rare books where the blurb is more concise and accurate than what I might have written:

On the surface, rock star Jordan Kane has it all. His band No Rules is burning up the charts and headlining a world tour. His bodyguard doubles as a hot, kinky boyfriend who knows just how to push all his buttons. But behind the scenes, he’s suffocating. More...

The Cross and the Trinity

This review originally appeared in slightly different form at BDSM Book Reviews.

In “The Cross and the Trinity” we witness the evolution of a BDSM menage relationship. As the book opens, Tate and Sebastian's relationship is under many of the same strains that almost any couple - gay or straight, kinky or vanilla - experiences. And like too many young couples, they don't have the maturity or life experience to help them deal with the stresses of work and other responsibilities. Although James is initially seen as a threat to the relationship, owing to his past dealings with Tate, he goes out of his way to help the two patch up their relationship, becoming the kind of mentor the younger men need. The Contract

After discovering his boyfriend in bed with another man and then finding out his employer has gone bankrupt, Jace needs to get out of his head, and for him there's no better place to do that than the local BDSM club. While watching a public scene, he is befriended by an older man who encourages him to take a turn on the stage to be flogged by the Dominant. Although not into public scenes, something about the man, Carlo, inspires confidence, and when the Dom picks Jace out of the crowd, he agrees. More...

The Non-Con Conundrum

My recent read and review of Slave in Training got me thinking about a number of things - and that's one of the big reasons I liked it. One of the aspects I liked about the book was the consensual nature of the protagonist's enslavement. He chooses life as a slave and is given several opportunities throughout the story to give up the path he has chosen. What struck me most about this was just how rare this is in most M/M Master/slave books coming out these days. It seems like far too many of these stories are really about rape and torture rather than anything else. More...

Review - Slave in Training

Slave in Training (originally Esclave à l'entraînement)

This is a case where the title of a book is probably more illuminating than the blurb. The style of the story is in the form of a memoir recounting the main character's youth and early training as a slave in the 1970s. Max knows he is different from an early age, and it isn't just his bisexuality, but it isn't until he meets his gym teacher, James Teka, that he begins to understand that he was born with a deep seated need to serve others. This is a rather unusual story, in that it is not your all-to-typical non-consensual enslavement plot, nor is it a sexual romp. Max describes his training in detail, and a lot of it involves both physical as well as mental challenges. In fact, the sex comes long after he begins training under his master James. More...

Virgin Territory

The blurb for this short novelette sets it up rather nicely:

Danny may be a virgin, but that's not all he is...

When a fellow dom points Aaron in the direction of the new guy visiting in their local leather bar, there are a lot of things that draw him to Danny. One of those things is the rumor that Danny is a virgin in terms of leather, guy-on-guy action, and even in so far as his experience with girls. Add to that the fact that Danny is hot as hell and knows how to throw down a challenge, and Aaron is helpless to resist.

Danny knew as soon as he laid eyes on Aaron that he wanted him. He's not going to let a little thing like complete inexperience get in his way. He survived his best friend drunkenly admitting their virginity to the entire club on their first night there, but that doesn't mean he likes the way people have treated him, or the assumptions they've made about him since that night. A Man, A Jersey and a Tight End

Nearly two years have passed since Brian, ‘Goldilocks’, moved in with his three bears to set up an unusual, somewhat polyamorous, relationship with them. In this sequel to Goldilocks and His Three Bears, the strains of ‘Daddy’ Paul's heavy travel schedule is showing on Brian, who is almost out of control, despite Momma Bear Jim's best disciplinarian efforts. It doesn't help that Jim's own sub, baby bear Scott, is also out on the road. It isn't long before Paul and Scott return home, but things don't get back to normal right away. Both Brian and Scott have issues they're trying to hide from their Doms.

In something of a second story within the book, Scott brings home a stray cowboy from one of his road trips. The boy Joshua is shy and inexperienced. He needs the guidance of an older man, but who? Paul and Jim obviously have their hands full. More...
